The CD1 is a less than lethal alternative to defense and controlling an assailant. It was developed in conjunction with United States Government security experts and martial arts masters from various disciplines. All of the creators had extensive experience in field and training aspects of security work. The goal was to find a tool that would assist in weapon disarms and control techniques. It is currently being used by security experts in the United States.
